ASPIRATION

An auto-disable syringe mechanism that prevents reuse. A small ring etched on the inside of the barrel allows the specially-adapted plunger to move in one direction and not the other. After one complete injection is given the plunger will automatically lock in place, and break if forced, rendering the syringe useless.

The K1 Auto Disable (AD) syringe conforms to ISO 7886-3 (immunisation) and ISO 7886-4 Type 1 (curative/general healthcare).  The term AD or Auto Disable means a syringe that is automatically disabled prior to the completion of an injection.  The device has also been known as Auto Destruct, non reusable and in some cases Auto Disposable.  

K1 is UNICEF, WHO and ISO approved.

An anti-needlestick feature that prevents injuries from a used exposed needle. K3  Safety Cap is an adaptation of a standard needle cap. It enables the needle to be exposed and the injection administered as usual, after which the cap covers the needle again and locks securely in place.

An aspiration feature that makes every injection quicker, and results in more accurate delivery. Thin panels on the syringe barrel allow them to be squeezed. If performed just before injection, this creates backpressure that draws liquid from the body into the syringe, allowing the health care worker to determine if they have the correct injection site.
